The Region of Southern Denmark, along with the municipality of Odense, acts as a catalyst for an initiative, whose purpose is to create an international centre of excellence for the development, implementation and distribution of welfare technology and services within the social and health areas. The initiative is called welfaretechnology.now.

The Region of Southern Denmark

Region of Southern Denmark is a centrally located and dynamic growth region. Southern Denmark is homw to one of Scandinavia’s largest an most modern hospitals, The Odense University Hospital. Denmark’s third largest university is also based in the region.

Municipality of Odense

Odense is the third largest city in Denmark and with its 1021 years it is also one of the eldest.
As of 1.1. 2009 the population of Odense Municipality was 187,929. Odense is world-renowned for robottechnology and a number of companies within robotics is based in Odense.

University of Southern Denmark

University of Southern Denmark has more than 20,000 students and more than 4,000 employees.
University of Southern Denmark has created an institution of higher research and education which provides first-class educational opportunities and is cooperation partner for both public and private businesses and organisations for providing qualified labour.

National Board of Social Services

The National Board of Social Services is an independent subdivision of The Ministry of Social Welfare located in Odense, Denmark. The Board aims to promote new development and initiatives in social services while also supporting and counselling local authorities in providing services to citizens, i.e. children, young people, socially marginalised groups, elderly and disabled.
